Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, Margaret Curran MP, saw red on her visit to Glasgow-based global-wide Vanilla Blush today – red knickers that is!
Laughing along with Vanilla Blush’s CEO Nicola Dames, leading Labour politician Margaret dropped the blue knickers, which were gifted to her, to opt for her party colours of red.
Nicola, who heads global-brand Vanilla Blush from Glasgow East, said: “I offered the blue knickers to Margaret, and not knowing my politics that well, it was a case of red blushes for not offering the red knickers. Only now do I realize blue is not her party colours!
“I’ve had a quick lesson in politics, and now I know red knickers are the choice of Labour’s Margaret!
But laughing aside, it was great to meet Margaret. She is our constituency MP and we were delighted she could come and visit our flag-ship store, Europe’s very first specialised underwear and swimwear shop.
Nicola continued: “We’ve had such great support, from the likes of Alex Neil, former Health Minister, from John Mason, local MSP and former MP, and from the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. Now to have Margaret visit us, I can only say that not only am I delighted with the huge ongoing support, but it is great to have such a crash-course of lessons in politics….I’ve never known so much about the politics until we opened our store last April!
"I can only say it is a great privilege meeting Margaret, not only is she clearly someone of great gravitas, being the shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, and very possibly will be a main player in the soon-to-be-new UK Government , but she is very down to earth and great company."
Margaret Curran, the MP for Glasgow East, said: "I'm delighted to congratulate Nicola Dames and her staff on their prestigious award.
“Nicola has shown sound business sense by founding and expanding this specialist, Glasgow-based company which also cares sensitively for its valued customers and helps them live positively with what can be a challenging condition.
“Vanilla Blush is exactly the sort of new business that Scotland needs and I'm delighted to see it expanding and, deservedly, establishing an international reputation in its field."
Nicola concluded laughingly: “I must admit that, even though I can predict a person’s knicker size from twenty yards, I really must get learning my party political colours so that I get the right colour knickers for next time!!!”
